Here she was. Back again. Emma Grant was back at Camp Rock for her fourth year. This year seemed different though. Don't get her wrong, she was just as excited as anyone to come back, see her old friends. But then there was the part of her who didn't want to come back. The drama from last year was still fresh in her mind. Maybe if she was lucky either Annette or Nate wouldn't show up this year, but that really wasn't likely. The two were probably going to gang up on her like crazy this year. Luckily she'd still have Mitchie. That was something that would help her through anything.
So the backstory, for those of you who don't know what happend last year. It all started when Emma admited to Nate that she liked him. He said he did too and all seemd well at the moment. And then there was Annette. The pop sensation who's life seemed to be going down the drain. She also liked Nate, and it was a fight to who would get to him first. Emma seemed to be the winner. But Annette did have an advantage, she already was the best friend of Nate Gray. She knew him backwards and forwards. Emma, not as well. Emma also was well known for her temper at camp, and still is. She exploded a few times on Nate, and told him about her little issue with drinking (which we should all know, her progress stopped in about April). That seemed to stress the poor little diabetic pop star out abit. And that's when he passed out. Yup, on Emma's acount he passed out.
That's pretty much where it ends. They never did officialy end it, Nate never said the words "were through" and neither did Emma. But it both of theirs minds it was over. Now we'll be honest. Emma does still like Nate. If he ever were to want to give her a chance again then she wouldn't object. But the only thing she wants from him right now, is a chance at least to be friends. Emma dropped her bags and looked around at all the new, and familiar faces. She smiled and waved slightly to a few of them and looked around for Mitchie. Ah, where was she? Emma had texted Mitchie a while ago and told her to meet her by the Lake. She sat down on a large rock and looked out to the lake. It was just as she'd left it.

O U T F I Tas time was ticking we were winning and it all was going as planned ------- Camp Rock. Camp Rock. Camp Rock. The only thing running through Mitchie's mind a few weeks before summer started, was Camp Rock. And then school finished..and let's just say that to say Mitchie was excited would have been a great understatement. Finally, after a long, boring, educational year, summer had finally arrived, and Mitchie could blissfully return to Camp Rock, to re-unite with all her friends.
Her friends. Mitchie's face lit up at the thought of meeting Emma and Shane again. She'd kept in contact with Emma all through the year, but it just wasn't the same as actually being with her best friend in person, was it? She hopped out of their car, and quickly left her things in her newly-assigned cabin. Emma had told texted her, telling her to meet her by the lake when she arrived, and now that she'd arrived..well, off to the lake.
She had been hoping to bump into Shane on the way, because Mitchie had missed the nineteen-year-old pop sensation a lot more than she should have over the year. She'd kept in contact with him too, which may not have been such a good idea, because that only led to him missing him even more and now that she was actually here, and he was actually here too..she was just bursting to hug him and just be with him. But of course, not as much as she was bursting to hug Emma and just hang out with Emma, just like old times.
On approaching the lake, she looked around for the black-haired girl, at first not seeing Emma anywhere. Then she spotted a girl sitting on a large rock, simply gazing out at the lake. A smile danced on Mitchie's lips; there was no mistaking Emma. Slowly, she walked down to where Emma was, the leaves crunching beneath her feet. She put her hands over her friend's eyes and grinned. "Guess whooo," she said in a silly sing-song voice.

Emma turned around to look back at her bags that were sitting a few feet from her. She should probably go pick them up, but she didn't really feel like moving to them. Who would want to steal her clothes anyways? Not anyone she knew. Sure, they were somewhat nice. But there wasn't really anyone here at camp who hated her that much. She turned back around quickly, double-taking to make sure that Annette wasn't around. Now Annette was someone who would deffinitly steal her clothes, whether she wanted them for herself or if she planned to just throw them in the lake. She sighed before turning her attention back to the lake. Geesh, Emma needed to stop being so negative about Annette. The two had slightly gotten along last year, but that was only because there fighting was driving Nate insane. Now that Nate and Emma were basicaly apart there was nothing keeping Emma from hating her with all she had.
Emma pulled her cell phone out to see if she had any missed calls or anything. It was day one and she was already starting to miss her mom. Which was strange because over the past three years of camp, Emma hadn't ever really missed her mom when she was here. Maybe that was because over the school year Emma's mom actualy did try to make an effort. She'd really changed. She actualy started paying attention to Emma and how upset she got over her father being gone. For a while Emma was worried that she would figure out that she was drinking. It didn't take that much to notice. The sneaking back in at 1 in the morning, and the not coming out of her bedroom untill three in the afternoon. Apparently Emma had hidden it pretty well. She must of been a super sneak.
As she slipped her phone back into her skinny jeans pocket she felt someone put their hands over her eyes. Guess whooo, she heard. Emma smirked, "Nate Gray? Is that you? Come crawling back to me after Annette ate your soul?"Emma said sarcasticaly. Of course she knew it was Mitchie. She just loved playing around with the idea of Annette being just as big of a bitch to Nate, as Emma was to him. Although it wasn't likely to happen. She moved Mitchie's hands off her eyes and jumped off the rock. "MICHELLE!!"Emma screamed before almost tackling Mitchie to the ground, before regaining her balance. She pulled away from the long over-due hug and looked at her best friend. She grabbed her hand and pulled her down to sit next to her on the rock. "How are you? How was your school year? Did you get a new boyfriend? Are you still in love with that pop rock sensation Shane Gray?"Emma asked. This was stupid. Emma knew all the answers. She talked to Mitchie on the phone at least twice a week, and they had other means of communication too. She looked to her friend anxiously, awaiting her reply.

Mitchie grinned as she heard what Emma said about Nate. She loved her friend's sarcasm and definately agreed with what Emma said. Alright, so Anette had never really done anything bad to Mitchie, but the simple fact that she'd tried taking Nate away from Emma, and had eventually succeeded..yes, that definately put her in Mitchie's bad books.
"Aaahhh Emmaa!" she practically screeched, once her friend removed her hands from her eyes, and tackle-glomp-hugged her, the two of them very nearly falling to the ground. It felt good to finally be hugging her best friend again, it had been way too long since she'd last done it and Mitchie had almost forgotten what it felt like..sure, she had a bunch of friends at her high school, but none of them were nearly as close to her as Emma was. She was practically pulled onto the rock by her friend, and she sat down smiling.
"How are you? How was your school year? Did you get a new boyfriend? Are you still in love with that pop rock sensation Shane Gray?" She laughed, wondering why her friend was even asking her. She'd last spoken to her on the phone two days ago, and honestly..Emma would have been the first to know if Mitchie had got a new boyfriend. "I'm good. School was good. No new boyfriend.." she let her voice trail off, wondering just how to word the answer to the last question, even though Emma already knew. "And definately still have a major crush on Shane."
It was kind of embarrassing really..once she'd got back from camp last year, she would watch every single one of his concerts on the TV, and buy nearly every magazine he was in. She even bought lots of posters of him, which she stuck all over her room. And of course, she hadn't failed to talk to her friends non-stop about him, and about how amazing he was, and about how much she liked him and blah blah. Yeah, definately an embarrassing obsession.
She looked over at Emma. "What about Nate? Have you seen him yet?" she asked. She didn't even have to ask if Emma still liked Nate, because her friend had been talking to her about him almost all year, and about what a bitch Annette was. "I swear, Em, we are totally going to get back at that bitch this year," she said through gritted teeth. Then her thoughts drifted over to Jenna, who was Annette's best friend, and was trying to steal Shane. "And we'll get the bitch's sidekick too." She rolled her eyes, waiting for a response as she looked out at the lake, breathing in the camp air. Yes, it was good to be back.

Oh how Emma had missed being in Mitchie's presence. The last time she'd actualy seen her was at Christmas, nearly six months ago. It seemed like twice as long to her though. But it wasn't something to think about. They had the rest of their summer together. The past was in the past, although Emma couldn't promise it would stay there. The second she saw Nate, she was sure that she would start falling hard again. Although she hadn't really ever stopped falling. Over the school year Emma tried her hardest to get over him, but how do you get over someone who your friends can't get enough of? I mean face it. It's Nate Gray. Emma's friends consisted of 16 and 17 year old boys and girls. At the beginning of Camp, when Emma and Nate started going out she'd told a few of her friends back home about the two. It spread pretty fast apparently. Because when she got back, 75% of the junior class was dying to here about them. To bad for Emma she couldn't say anything all that good.
But Connect Three and Nate Gray was all over the press. Every time Emma turned on the t.v, there he was. Over and Over and Over again. Why couldn't she just get him off her mind. It shouldn't of been that hard for her, but sadly it was. If there was ever a way to forget a boy, get over a boy, or just hate a boy, it was to date a different boy. Emma tried that, she dated many different guys at her school, none of which seemed to match up to Nate. God, stupid Nate Gray. Made it so no one was good enough for Emma. Wow. That sounded conceided. It wasn't that no one was good enough for her, all it really was, was Emma not wanting anyone else. Geesh, her and her temper. Always screwing things up for her.
The questions that Emma had shot out at Mitchie were really pointless. She knew the answers. The two had just spoken on the phone two days ago. Emma had just grilled Mitchie two days ago. She couldn't help it though. Emma grinned. Of course Mitchie still had a huge crush on Shane. They were both hopelessly falling. And both for pop stars! Emma for Nate, and Mitchie for Shane. They needed another best friend to fall for Jason...
Emma sighed and placed her head in her hands. She did not want to talk about Nate. That was a subject that she had avoided talking about with Mitchie for about a month. Her new record. But whatever. It had come up, Emma would talk if needed. Emma shook her head no, "Nope. And I dont really want to. I mean, what am I suppose to say to him? Sorry for almost killing you, lets try to be friends and maybe my temper and alchohol issues wont come crashing down on you?"Emma said. She didn't mind talking about her alchohol issue thing with Mitchie. She'd accidentaly told her last year at camp, and now she knew. Emma grinned. Mitchie wanted to get Annette back? Oh she was so up for that. The bitches sidekick? Ugh Jenna. Jenna was honestly one of the rudest girls that Emma knew, and she didn't even know her that well! Who knows how much worst she could get? "Aw Michelle, I love how you think."Emma smiled.

Michelle frowned, lifting her shoulders into a soft shrug. No, of course she didn't think Emma would say something like that to Nate. But she absolutely hated seeing her friend so down-in-the-dumps whenever she thought of Nate. And with the band Connect Three's fame rising higher and higher as the days passed and they got more publicity, Mitchie knew it definately wasn't easy for Emma to try get over Nate, with his face all over the newspapers, television and radio.
She was about to open her mouth to say something, but she closed it again. Nate was probably the last thing Emma wanted to talk about, and she didn't want to see her all sad right now..after all, it had been months since Mitchie had last seen her, but it definately felt like years. And now it was time for them to catch up and hang out and look forward to the summer ahead of them, not worry about some silly heart-breaking boy.
"Everyone does, Emma," she said laughing. Oh yes, Annette was definately going to pay. And if that slutty Jenna even thought about making a move on Shane this year, then she would pay too. Mitchie occasionally wondered if Shane might still have been angry at her for lying the previous year. Because whenever they mentioned the previous year, she'd noticed that Shane got a little weird, so that would give Jenna every excuse to move in on him and whisk him away from right in front of Mitchie's nose.
She smiled, looking over at Emma again. "Holy jeebies, Emma, I have missed you this much," she said, holding her arms as apart as they could go. It was still settling into her system that she was here right now, and Emma was here right now with her, and they had a whole summer together before they went back to their silly hometowns.
"By the way, is it true there's a new Queen Bee this year?" she said, wondering if all the gossip she'd heard bits of since she'd arrived was true or not. Everyone was saying there was someone new this year, with her pack of girls behind her. Mitchie wondered how Tess would take the news..if we were talking about the same old Tess of last summer, it probably wouldn't be a pretty scene.

Emma said, although it was a bit delayed. As Mitchie stretched her hands out wide, Emma couldn't help but laugh. Emma streched her arms out even further, Emma was taller so it worked in her advantage, "And Mitchie, I missed you this much."she said, very matter-o-factly. Emma nodded at the mention of the new queen bee. She'd heard about her, and was not looking forward to more drama. If Emma had it her way, Nate wouldn't be here. Annette wouldn't be here. This new Queen Bee wouldn't be here. It would just be Emma and Mitchie, and anyone else who wasn't going to cause drama. "I saw her earlier, dude, Mitchie, she honestly looks worse then Tess was."Emma said, and even that was an under-statement. [/ul]

Worse than Tess? Mitchie groaned slightly. How was that even possible? Tess had screwed up last summer enough, but someone even worse than her would make Camp Rock hell on earth. "Great," she mumbled, very sarcastically. But no, her summer wasn't going to be ruined. All camps had drama, didn't they? But Mitchie had decided from the moment she reached the camp that she was not going to get wound up into any of it this year, if that was even possible.
Her thoughts drifted over to a group of people about a hundred metres away from the rock they were sitting on. They were already practicing a song, and for a brief moment Mitchie wondered why, so soon. Then it hit her..opening night jam. She hadn't done anything the previous year, just been an onlooker at Lola's awesomeness whilst she sang and danced. That had been the night she'd made friends with Tess, unfortunately, and from then a lot of things had gone downhill. Still, she'd had Emma keeping an eye on her the whole time, to make sure she didn't become as bitchie as Tess was trying to make her..and it had sort of worked. Mitchie had always tried to prevent giving in to peer pressure, especially from people like Tess.
"Em, we totally gotta do something for Opening Night Jam," she said, grinning widely. With Emma's fabulous dancing skills, and Mitchie's fabulous singing skills, they were sure to rock the stage, just like they had done the previous year. But now, Mitchie had new songs, and Emma probably had new dance moves, and the two would have been certain to win a little attention if they performed that night. Not that they needed it, because frankly, having each other (as well as other friends like Caityln etc) was enough to keep them both happy.
She looked over at Emma, a smile on her face. "It's good to be back, though, isn't it?"

Emma smiled. The two both knew it wasn’t going to be Great at all with this girl here. The two also knew that Mitchie was being very much so sarcastic, something the two did quite a lot. She’d missed joking around with Mitchie. Making fun of each other for crushing on the Gray boys, laughing at each other when they totally screwed up while rehearsing. They never actually meant it. I mean, they weren’t that mean. Maybe Emma could do those things to Annette and mean it, but that was totally different. And Mitchie could do those things to Jenna, but that only because they were two people who they couldn’t stand. And why should they be able to? Annette had done nothing, ever, to make Emma want to be friends with her. When Emma had been going out with Nate she’d only made it all worse. Annette was ¾ of the reason as to why Emma had such a bad temper. Why she couldn’t ever control it, was from being around little Ms.Annette.
Opening Jam! Emma had forgotten about that aspect of Camp Rock for a moment. She hadn’t performed in it last year sadly. She didn’t even know why. She performed in a few of the other Jams before Final, which she didn’t perform in either. She’d been a little mortified by the fact that she’d almost killed one of the judges. She was pretty sure that put her on their bad side. So why try? Oh she didn’t know, so she well didn’t. But Opening Jam with Mitchie! Why, that was a good idea! With Emma’s dancing and Mitchie’s singing, the two could easily adapt whatever they’d had to make it work for two.
“Well, I’m in!” Emma said happily. Performing with her best friend was something she’d wanted to do for quite some time, but she’d never really gotten the chance yet. Well they may of done it once, like a long time ago…but Emma couldn’t recall the last time they’d performed together when they’d been this good. Like at their absolute best.
"It's good to be back, though, isn't it?" Emma nodded her head vigorously. Emma was glad to be back even if she was going to have to deal with a few people she didn’t want to. Camp wasn’t worth missing because of a few people who you couldn’t deal with. Emma was here; she was going to stay here. No one was going to make her leave. “I agree, I agree.” she said, a grin on her face.

Mitchie beamed when Emma agreed that they should do opening night jam together. It would definately be fun, even if they didn't win. But Mitchie somehow doubted the possibility of them not winning..alright, perhaps she was a little biased, but both of them performing together wasn't something to be ignored. Emma was an amazing dancer, Mitchie had seen her dance a countless amount of times, and she honestly thought that her best friend was way too good for this camp. She should have been off on some scholarship in France or something, where all the world's amazing dancers went. "Is it even allowed, though?" she asked suddenly. "You know, for a counselor to perform with a camper?" She grinned.
Mitchie had forgotten that Emma had been made a counselor this year. She was happy for her friend, if not somewhat envious of her too. But then again, Emma had been at Camp Rock longer than Mitchie had; this was only Mitchie's second year at the place. She knew Emma would make a great camp counselor though, and was looking forward to attending her friend's classes. Might have been a good way to get back at Annette and Jenna too, if Emma was still up for that.
"I agree, I agree" She smiled again, as she gazed out at the lake, and breathed in the Camp Rock air. It was weird, when she was at camp she would completely forget that she had a life in San Francisco, and had other friends in the high school she went to. When she was at camp, she would forget that her time there was limited, that the summer would finish eventually. Just like she'd forgotten about the limited time she had there last summer, and the moment she left camp she'd sobbed in her room for weeks because she missed it so much. She was just like that and she could be very emotional at times.
She breathed a sigh of relief. "Guess what," she said with a smile. "Mom's got new kitchen helpers this year, so I don't have to go in to help much..you know, just the occasional days when they're really busy and need all the help they can get." She smiled again. She'd spent lots of time in the kitchens last year, but thankfully this year she'd be a little more free and would probably be able to enjoy the camp even more than she had the previous year.
